Downstream Producers and Suppliers from the Oil and Petrochemicals industries meet for EPC Ltd Asian Petrochemicals and Refining Week

Euro Petroleum Consultants Ltd is hosting the 4th Asia Bottom of the Barrel Technology Conference (AsBBTC) in addition to the 8th Asian Petrochemicals Strategy and Technology Conference (APTC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia between the 18th and 21st of May 2010 at the Parkroyal Hotel. Among the delegates, sponsors and exhibitors present at the events will be heads and experts from the industry’s leading Downstream Oil & Gas producers and suppliers who will be sharing their knowledge and solutions for the topical issues of refinery-petrochemical integration and optimisation and residue upgrading.
With the support of sponsors Criterion, Axens, Flowserve, Foster Wheeler, KBC, Curtis Wright and Alfa Laval Euro Petroleum Consultants will kick star the week with AsBBTC 2010. The conference will acknowledge the challenges of fully utilising existing resources, crudes getting heavier and the increasing demand for light, clean fuels while addressing the necessity for Asian refiners to continually expand their residue upgrading capacity to remain profitable and competitive.

Focusing upon the necessary developments and updates in Residue upgrading, the event will be supported with keynote presentations and case studies presented by an expert speaker panel on Thermal Processes for Residue Upgrading, Catalysts and Technologies for Residue Upgrading, Equipment Developments, Hydroprocessing Developments. Among the experts are M Radzif A Kadir, Lube Base Oil Specialist at Melaka Refinery, Petronas; Dr Maizar Rahman, Commissioner at Pertamina; Marcos Benicio Pompa Antunes, Executive Director at Nansei Sekiyu K.K./Petrobras and Clive Gibson, Manager of Asia Energy Resources at Nexant.
Euro Petroleum Consultants is also pleased to announce Foster Wheeler’s seminar on optimised refining, which will take place 1 day prior to the conference to address these issues in more detail. Foster Wheeler will bring their global expertise to AsBBTC 2010 to deliver an interactive day focused on the practical and cost effective solutions for bottom of the barrel optimisation, maximising refinery profitability, meeting clean fuels legislation in domestic and export markets, delivering market-driven product slates and maximising energy efficiency.
The current economic climate has produced an industry-wide contraction of budgets allocated to new investment, calling for oil and gas downstream producers to optimise and increase efficiency of existing facilities as an essential course of action to ensure that they remain competitively positioned for the next upturn. APTC 2010 will address the challenges and potential solutions associated with Optimisation Strategies, Refinery-Petrochemical Integration, Projects and Technologies for Aromatics and Olefins and Developments in Polyolefins. Among the experts addressing these issues are Byeong Jae Park, General Manager of SK Energy; Ahmed Al-Emadi, General Manager of Qatar Chemical Company; Thevarak Rochanapruk, Vice President and Project Director at PTT Phenol and John Vautrain, Senior Vice President at Purvin & Gertz.

Leading solutions providers and technology suppliers will support the address with case studies on current projects presented by Shaw Energy & Chemicals, Fluor, KBC Advanced Technology, Shell Global Solutions and PTT Phenol among other industry experts. Furthermore Axens is delighted to be opening the doors to their complimentary full day Petrochemical Technology seminar, which will take place 1 day prior to the APTC conference.
